A north-east lifeboat arrived just in time to rescue two men from their sinking vessel today.
The small boat lost power and was washed against rocks between the Buchan fishing villages of Cruden Bay and Boddam. Emergency crews found the two men clinging to rocks as they vessel sank.
Volunteers from the RNLI’s Peterhead lifeboat and a coastguard team from Cruden Bay scrambled to the scene at around 9.30am.
A spokesman for the Coastguard confirmed a specialist land rescue team had joined the operation.
He said: “A small vessel has reportedly broken down and washed up against rocks north of Cruden Bay so the lifeboat has been tasked to assisted along with a coastguard team.”
The two men rescued from the rocks are not thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
