An Aberdeen woman who survived four cardiac arrests will compete in the final of a national beauty contest.
Emma Watson, is London and tomorrow is set to take part in the Miss British Empire beauty pageant.
The contest accolade means a lot to the 23 year old as she has come back from horrific illness with a steely determination.
Emma was at a friend’s house in May 2013 when her heart suddenly stopped.
Her friend and his mum performed CPR, but while ambulance crews rushed her to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Emma suffered a second cardiac arrest.
Medics frantically battled to restart her heartbeat but Emma had two more cardiac arrests while being treated.
Now, two years on, the brave young woman who can’t be kept down will take to the catwalk.
Emma will perform in the “Miss” final on Saturday against 36 other women from across Britain.
Emma said: “I could have just given up two years ago but I didn’t.
“I didn’t expect to go down the route I have but I was so pleased to win the Scotland award.
“So much effort was put in but I really never thought I would have won. I knew I had given my best and it was ace when I did win. I really can’t wait for the British final. I’m just so excited for the final now.”
