Lifeboats called after boat runs aground in north-east

Peterhead and Fraserburgh lifeboats have been launched to rescue a stricken vessel on a north-east beach.

Crews were alerted to the incident at around 9.45 pm after the 24ft diving vessel ran aground on Rattray Head.

Communication with the skipper has been maintained and there is no risk to life.

A coastguard spokesman said: “There is no major concern. We’re going to pull him back into the water.”
