Two Aberdeenshire secondary schools have been hailed for opening up the world of sports to their students.
Meldrum and Ellon academies will be granted the gold school sport award by Sportscotland for delivering high quality athletic opportunities to pupils.
The gold status was awarded following an extensive external assessment carried out by an independent panel.
The gold school sports awards initiative is aimed at encouraging schools to improve the quality and quantity of physical education and school sport opportunities.
Sportscotland’s regional manager, Alan Clark, will present Meldrum Academy its accolade today at 12.30pm.
Head teacher Andrew Travis said: “We are absolutely delighted to be awarded the Sportscotland gold school sport award.
“Our staff work incredibly hard to deliver a high quality curricular and wider curricular sporting experience throughout the school year.
“We all believe that physical activity is important and that it plays a significance role in the overall learning journey that pupils undergo at Meldrum Academy.”
