The blaze broke out at a Rothienorman farm at around 2.15am. Firefighters worked to extinguish the straw bale inferno for close to three hours. Two appliances from Inverurie were called to the incident and the police were also on site. Roads in the area had to be closed until the fire was brought under control as smoke was obscuring visibility. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Nobody was injured during the incident, but there was a lot of smoke caused by the fire. “As a result, some unclassified roads in the area were closed.”
