A man who was knocked over by a car and later died of his injuries has been named as 45-year-old Nuno Barbara.
Mr Barabara, from Portugal, had been walking near his place of work when he was hit by a car last Thursday night just yards from Fraserburgh’s International Fish Canners plant.
Emergency services attended Castle Street in the port after receiving calls from members of the public.
But, at the time, a spokesman for the police said the incident was not being classed as serious.
Nor-sea Foods Ltd, which operates the plant, last night described Mr Barbara as a “well-liked” member of the team.
“It was with sadness that we learned the news that Mr Barbara had passed away,” a spokeswoman said.
“He was a hard-working, well-liked employee of the business and our deepest condolences go out to his family at this time.”
Floral tributes to Mr Barbara are currently being hung from a street light near where he was hit.
