A road remains closed in Fraserburgh after a gas cylinder caught fire at a car garage.
Firefighters were called to Gibbs Tyre and Auto Centre in the port’s Albert Street earlier this morning when reports emerged that the canister had exploded.
Police have since confirmed that they have remained at the scene to ensure that the cylinder safely cools and that it did not blow up.
The town’s Charlotte Street and Mid Street are also closed to pedestrians and traffic.
Two appliances from the fire and rescue service attended the scene at about 10.35am to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesman for the fire brigade said: “The call we got said it had exploded, but it was just on fire.”
A spokeswoman for the police added: “We got a call at 10.35am and we are providing assistance to close Mid Street at Albert Street and Charlotte Street. A cordon will be set up.
“This is because the cylinder requires time to cool down.”
