A man has died after plunging off a nine-storey building near Aberdeen’s Duthie Park.
Shocked passersby discovered him badly injured on a grassy area in front of a sheltered housing complex in the city’s Gairn Terrace.
A rapid response ambulance service vehicle went to the Gairn Court building but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy happened just hours after a 44-year-old man died in a similar incident in the city centre.
Christopher Bibby fell from the top of a five-storey building in Adelphi Lane.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries.
Last night, police investigating the incident at Gairn Court said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
Officers were at the scene for about three hours after the man’s body was discovered.
He will not be named until his next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesman said: “Police were informed of an injured man found outside Gairn Court at approximately 4.45pm today.
“The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Inquiries are ongoing but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
The sheltered housing complex is run by Aberdeen City Council, which has launched an investigation into what happened.
A spokeswoman for the local authority said:
“We feel saddened at what’s happened and offer our deepest condolences to the family.
“We are working with the authorities to establish what happened and so cannot comment any further.”
Police have urged anyone with information to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
