A special event will give people in the north-east an insight into the scientific basis behind one of the most critically-acclaimed TV shows of the last decade.
The Science of Breaking Bad, hosted by Sussex University lecturer Jonathan Hare, will focus on the story of high school chemistry teacher turned crystal meth cook Walter White and his partner, Jesse Pinkman.
During the event, which takes place as part of this year’s Tech Fest, Mr Hare will use his expertise to analyse and explore many of the key scientific phenomena featured in the series, including exploding crystals, poisonous gases and meth labs.
Sarah Chew, managing director of Tech Fest, said: “I think this will be one of this year’s most popular events, given how big the show became. Due to the nature of the talk, this will be one for over-18s, but we are expecting it to sell out very quickly.
“We have introduced a number of new events and venues this year and the public programme offers something for all different age groups and audiences, from the fun and light-hearted to high level presentations on topical subjects such as renewable energy and climate change.”
The talk, which starts at 7pm, takes place in the Lemon Tree on September 21.
Among the other events taking place will be the popular Dr Bunhead’s Blast Off!, Hollywood Science, The Ugly Animal
Roadshow and the closing event with Miranda Krestovnikoff.
