The community will get their say on a long-awaited third primary school in the Portlethen area next week.
A public meeting will be held on Wednesday to discuss the new £13million Hillside Primary School.
People will get an opportunity to discuss elements of the school including its name, uniform and logo, and council representatives will be on hand.
Details of transition arrangements such as the formation of a parent council will also be discussed.
Local councillor Alison Evison, who is also chairwoman of Aberdeenshire Council’s education committee, encouraged prospective parents to go along and share their views.
“It’s about the pupils, the families and the wider community and I encourage parents to get involved in this meeting. There will be further opportunities as the project takes shape,” she said.
“This long-awaited school will benefit the community for many years and I welcome the progress that is now being made.”
The school had been due to open in August next year, but the council has been forced to push it back until at least October following a dispute over access to the site.
Aberdeenshire Council recently appointed West Lothian firm FMP Construction as the school’s builders.
The company’s director, Raymond Millar, said he was “thrilled” to have secured the contract.
He said: “Winning this contract will ensure we continue to build on our relationships and experiences of working within the local region and provide us an opportunity to maximise the development of skills, the local economy and community life.”
FMP is currently building a replacement secondary school in Ellon.
