Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of an Aberdeen dad.
James Chadwick, 37, was found dead at his home in the city’s Holland Street more than a week ago.
Yesterday, Ryan Gibb and Cameron Laurie, both 30 and from Aberdeen, appeared in court in connection with the death.
They face charges of murder and attempted to defeat the ends of justice, the Crown Office confirmed last night.
The pair made no plea or declaration during the private hearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, and were remanded in custody.
The case was continued for further examination, and will call again next week.
A major police investigation was launched after Mr Chadwick’s body was discovered in his flat on September 9.
His family raised the alarm after they had not seen or heard from him in a week.
The last reported sighting of him was his local corner shop on Hutcheon Street on August 31, and as police tried to piece together his final movements using CCTV, they appealed for anyone who had seen him to come forward.
Detectives were also investigating reports of a disturbance in the Holland Street area on September 1, hours after Mr Chadwick was last seen.
And the man leading the inquiry, Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith said earlier this week that a post-mortem indicted the father-of-one had died from an “act of violence”.
Mr Chadwick had been living in the city for several years, after moving from the north-west of England.
His young son also lives locally.
His family described his death as a “great shock” and said he was a popular man who was well known around Aberdeen city centre.
Friends at the Market Arms in Hadden Street, where he was a regular, also paid tribute, saying he was “one of a kind”.
They plan to hold a memorial night for him next week.
