Organisers of Ellon’s Hogmanay celebrations have revealed the latest two acts signed up to perform.
Scottish legends Big Country were announced as the headliners for this year’s Gig at the Brig back in February, but organisers have been working hard to secure some more top entertainment.
Now Ellon Events has announced Take That tribute band Take This and Newmachar rock pop band Uniform will keep the crowd of 3,000 dancing through the final hours of 2015.
Take This – who are renowned for their covers of Gary, Mark, Jason, Howard and Robbie’s hits – are the main support for the night, and have played several times in town previously.
Five-piece band Uniform have several UK headline tours under their belt, and have also supported acts such as Toploader and Big Country in the past. For their Hogmanay set, they will play some covers of popular favourites as well as some of their own music.
Last night a spokesman for Ellon Events said they were confident that this year’s gig would appeal to a wide audience.
He said: “We are confident this year’s could be a major turning point for Ellon Events, and lead to it becoming an annual fixture for some time to come.
“The artists who will be playing have all been chosen to provide a wide range of music that will appeal to a vast range of audience ages and musical tastes. We have one more act to be announced, and hope to complete the line-up by the end of October.”
Gig at the Brig, now in its third year, will also include a fireworks display at midnight at the bells, and a performance from the Ellon British Legion Pipe Band.
Tickets for the event, sponsored by Blackburn-based JM Taylor, are available from www.buytickets.at/EllonEvents or the Ellon Hogmanay Event Facebook page. Alternatively, they are available from the town’s Costcutter store.
