Aberdeenshire Council has hit a teacher recruitment target handed down by the Scottish Government.
The government mandates that there is one teacher for every 13.5 pupils in schools – creating a 2,700 target for the north-east authority.
As of September 16, there are 2,707 teachers employed in primary, secondary and specialist education across the region.
It comes after a major advertising push online, as well as a promotional film.
Aberdeenshire Council also currently offers a relocation package of up to £8,000 to attract candidates to the area.
In the last month 10 primary teachers and 10 secondary teachers have been recruited.
However, there are still 34 teacher vacancies listed on the local authority’s recruitment website.
The latest target update comes as officials prepare to attend an education summit with six other authorities to discuss the teacher recruitment crisis.
Education committee chairwoman Alison Evison said: “I commend officers across the council for their efforts in recruiting teachers, ensuring teacher targets are met and therefore, most importantly, meeting pupils’ needs.
“The work to recruit teachers is ongoing and I look forward to the summit later this month, with colleagues from across the north-east of Scotland, to discuss what else we can do to maintain numbers and plan the workforce.”
The summit to be held in Aberdeen will include representatives from Scottish Government, the General Teaching Council for Scotland alongside officials from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, Orkney Island and Shetland Island councils.
