Funeral for man killed in north-east fire to be held next week

The funeral of a man killed in a north-east house fire will be held next week.

Daniel Reid died after the blaze broke out in his flat in Macduff’s Newton Drive on September 9.

More than 40 firefighters battled for several hours to extinguish the fire, evacuating residents as the flames took hold of the block.

The 24-year-old was pulled from the building, but could not be saved and died at the scene.

After the tragedy, his family described him as a “much-loved son, brother, grandson and nephew”.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 11am in Portsoy Town Hall, thereafter to the local cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Banff Care United.

Mr Reid is survived by parents Lynn and Leigh, brother Michael and sister Abigail.
