Voters in Aberdeen went to the polls yesterday to elect two new city councillors to represent them up to the general council elections in 2017.
The positions in the Midstocket and Rosemount ward and the George Street and Harbour area were recently made vacant by the resignations of independent councillor, Fraser Forsyth, and the SNP’s Andrew May.
Mr Forsyth, a former Conservative group leader, resigned in July after announcing he was moving with his family to York.
Meanwhile, Mr May – who previously held the role of the city’s education committee convener – retired this summer.
It is the second by-election for Aberdeen in recent months, after SNP councillors Kirsty Blackman and Callum McCaig were elected as MPs in the general election.
The SNP held onto both seats, with Neil Copland and Stephen Flynn elected.
