A man was in a serious condition in hospital last night after a suspected stabbing in Aberdeen.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Middlefield Terrace, in the Hilton area, at about 10.40pm following reports of a disturbance.
Witnesses said they saw the injured man running out of a property, and then collapsing in the street.
His condition was last night described by police as serious, but not life-threatening.
One man, who did not want to be named, said he became aware of the drama after hearing the man scream.
The 54-year-old said: “At around 10.15am I heard a scream and looked out my window.
“I saw a man staggering along the street, he then collapsed and hit a van and then he collapsed onto the floor, his trouser leg completely covered in blood.”
Police cordoned off the scene for around two hours, while officers went door-to-door for information.
Local resident Lee Duncan said: “I got dropped off at 11.45am and almost the whole street was cordoned off there were police cars everywhere.”
Another neighboursaid: “There were four or five police cars, a riot car and police dogs here just after 11am, the whole street was full of them.
“They knocked on nearly every door to see if anyone had seen anything.”
Police maintained a presence on the street for most of yesterday afternoon as they continued their inquiries.
A spokeswoman said: “We were called to Middlefield Terrace at around 10.40am following reports of a disturbance.
