Fire crew members were rescued from a fishing vessel which caught fire around 40 miles outside Fraserburgh earlier this afternoon.
The coastguard were given a mayday relay broadcast at 1pm from a fishing vessel which had heard the original mayday from the Karinya vessel.
The coastguard rescue helicopter was sent from Inverness alongside the Fraserburgh RNLI all weather lifeboat.
They were also assisted by the Pleiades fishing vessel which responded to the emergency broadcast, which rescued the five crew who had taken to a life raft.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said:
“All five crew are reported to be safely on board the Pleiades with no injuries.
“The coastguard is monitoring and assessing the situation with the drifting vessel.”
