Police are hunting thieves who stole a deadly firearm from a property on the outskirts of Aberdeen yesterday.
Unconfirmed reports identified the weapon as a double barrel 12 gauge Italian made Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I.
Police confirmed a quantity of ammunition was also stolen along with electrical items from the rural property in the Anguston area of Peterculter.
The theft happened between 7am and 6.30pm on Monday, October 5.
Detective Inspector Stephen Beattie said: “Enquiries are at an early stage and we would urge anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in the area over the course of the last few days to contact us.
“We would also ask members of the public to remain vigilant and report anything that concerns them.
“In addition we would urge householders to review their home security and do all that they can to prevent themselves from becoming victims of opportunistic thieves. This includes keeping doors and windows locked and ensuring that an alarm is set. Anyone who is offered items for sale that they have any concerns about should contact us on 101 on 0800 555 111.”
