North-east pubs have teamed up with local police to kick-out troublemakers.
Officers with a sniffer dog patrolled licensed premises on Queen Street in Peterhead on Saturday accompanied by licensing standards officers from Aberdeenshire Council.
As a result, two men, both aged 31, were charged in relation to the possession of cocaine and cannabis.
A further two men were also issued with fixed penalty notices for breach of the peace and a third man was arrested in relation to threatening behaviour.
Sergeant George Nixon, who led the operation, said the public had passed on positive feedback following the patrol.
“While operations of this nature are routine for our team, it has been gratifying to see how well this weekend’s action has been received,” he added.
Peterhead councillor Stuart Pratt, convener of the North Aberdeenshire Licensing Board, also praised the work.
He said: “This is a great example of how sharing expertise and resources can make a real and positive contribution in our communities and I look forward to continued joint working in the future.”
This week the public will notice an increase in high visibility patrols in Stonehaven in a continued effort to enhance local safety.
Sergeant Nixon added: “Police Scotland is committed to assisting our local licensed premises and will continue to work closely with our partners to maintain a safe violence and drug-free environment in all our communities across Aberdeenshire.”
