A north-east news reader has travelled across the Atlantic to land her dream job at a world-famous news organisation.
Hannah MacKenzie has dropped her Granite City tones for an American accent as she presents a show on Fox News.
The 25-year-old presents the popular Fox 2’s programme Good Day Valley after moving with her family to Houston, Texas in 1999.
And she is following the family trade as her 49-year-old mother Eleanor used to work behind the scenes at Grampian TV.
Despite her thick Texas accent, Miss MacKenzie still calls the north-east home.
She said: “Technically on paper, I am a US citizen. When you take the oath it says you are giving up all loyalties to past places, but I don’t think you can ever truly give up your roots.
“I know where my home is. I still call Aberdeen home.
“In the US you feel like an outsider looking in. Here I don’t feel people value friendships and family as much as they do in the UK. We miss that a lot.”
