A retail expert will share her knowledge with businesses in a north-east town this month as part of a regeneration project.
Peterhead’s Retail Plus scheme will host a workshop for shop owners who want to take advantage of renowned saleswoman Lynda Murray’s experience.
Ms Murray has more than 20 years of retail experience and has worked various premium stores including House of Fraser and John Lewis, as well as London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
She is now as a visual associate for Retailer Ltd, which runs the scheme to regenerate town centre trade in Peterhead, and will talk about ways the internal layout of a shop can be used to maximise sales.
Her advice includes displaying goods in a way to attract, engage and motivate customers towards making a purchase.
A spokesman for the local authority said that her presentation to businesses will be “full of information and ideas for making the best of your shop”.
The free event is open to all shops and businesses in Peterhead, not just those taking part in the Retail Plus scheme.
More than 20 firms in the town have signed up to the Retail Plus plan, which will allow shopkeepers to apply for grants of up to £2,000 from the local authority.
It is also being run in neighbouring Fraserburgh.
Efforts to regenerate town centres across the north-east have dominated council agendas over the past year. The Aberdeenshire 4 Towns Report, presented to councillors from Banff, Macduff, Peterhead and Fraserburgh stressed the need to support traders.
The talk will take place at Peterhead Academy on Wednesday, October 28 with doors open at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. Places are limited.
