Police have launched a probe into a fire that sent thick plumes of black smoke into the north-east sky last night.
The blaze, which destroyed several blocks of polystyrene at Peterhead Harbour, is now being treated as suspicious.
And this afternoon, Police Scotland launched an appeal for information.
A spokesman for the force said a low, four-figure sum of damage was caused at the industrial unit in the Greenhill Road area of the town.
PC Craig Beedie, of the Buchan Community Policing Team, said: “This incident took place during the early evening when the area would have been busy and I urge anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any knowledge to come forward.”
Officers and firefighters raced to scene after the alarm was raised at about 5.45pm last night.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
