One of the founding members of the Britpop movement will return to the north-east next year with his new band.
Former Oasis lead guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher, along with his High Flying Birds band, will play at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s GE Oil and Gas Arena on April 24.
The band formed in 2011 following the official split of indie giants Oasis in 2009 due to ongoing conflicts with his brother Liam.
The band has already enjoyed enormous chart success, with their first eponymous album reaching number one in the UK Album Chart and follow-up album Chasing Yesterday – recorded in the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London – hitting the top spot when it was released in March of this year.
They also recently headlined the main stage at this year’s T in the Park at its first weekend at Strathallan Castle, and have already performed in America, Japan , Australia and New Zealand.
Louise Lonie, director of sales and marketing at the Aberdeen venue, said: “Noel Gallagher certainly is no stranger to the north-east having first performed at the AECC in 1997 with Oasis and more recently with his band in 2012.
“Gallagher truly is a musical icon and we are fully expecting a sold-out performance from the band when they perform at the GE Oil and Gas arena in April.”
Tickets for the gig go on sale at 9am on Friday, and can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/AECC
