Aberdeenshire councillors have backed a raft of new speed limits across the Formartine area.
New housing developments are currently under construction in Ellon, Cultercullen, Tarves, Udny Green, Newburgh and Potterton.
Council planners urged local members to implement a new traffic plan, introducing a total of 29 new 20mph speed limits on the affected roads.
Members of the Formartine area committee unanimously backed the proposals without discussion when they met yesterday.
Council infrastructure boss Stephen Archer said: “Following this committee meeting it is proposed to undertake a four-week statutory consultation with interested parties such as the RAC, Road Haulage Association and others.
“This would be followed by a 21-day public consultation with site notices erected at the affected locations.”
At the end of the consultation, the new speed limits introduced in Ellon will become part of a wider traffic management scheme for the town.
