Bailey Gwynne, described as a “gentle and caring” boy, suffered serious injuries in the attack at Cults Academy, in west Aberdeen, at around 1.30pm. He died a short time later at the city’s Royal Infirmary, and a police investigation was subsequently launched. Grief-stricken pupils slowly arrived throughout the day and laid flowers and written tributes at the railings. Anna Muirhead, head teacher, also came outside the school gates to speak with pupils for a short time before heading back indoors.
