Police investigating a crash which left one of their colleagues with life-changing injuries have appealed for information.
The smash involving a silver Volvo C70 and a motorbike happened in the early hours of Tuesday on the A952 Mintlaw-Fraserburgh road.
The accident happened near New Leeds and the car went into a ditch.
The Fraserburgh-based police officer who was riding the motorbike suffered “life-changing injuries”.
A 35-year-old man appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court last week facing a string of charges in connection with the incident.
Alan Tait faced a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and not providing police officers with his name or address to identify who was driving the car at the time of the incident.
He was also accused of driving without insurance and having a controlled substance in his possession.
Tait, of Fraserburgh, made no plea during the private hearing. He was released on bail.
Now officers investigating the incident have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Last night a spokesman for the force said: “The collision occurred shortly after midnight and involved a Volvo C70 and a motorbike.
“A 35 year-old man has been reported to the
procurator fiscal in relation to the incident, however police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“It is believed that two occupied vehicles were parked at the roadside near Wallace Caravans, approximately a mile-and-a-half from where the collision happened.”
The spokesman said that one of the vehicles had been described as a small, dark-coloured three-door 4×4.
Police have urged anyone with information to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
