Councillors have backed plans for a development of more than 40 homes in an Aberdeenshire village.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Marr area committee yesterday backed the proposal by St Cyrus based Snowdrop Developments for a mixed housing development at Kincardine O’Neil.
The 43-home site at Royal Deeside would include 10 affordable homes just off the North Deeside Road.
The land to the west of the village was designated within Aberdeenshire Council’s 2012 local development plan.
As part of the development a new footpath will be built between Canmore Place and Dee Street, which will include a section of public space.
All the houses will be between two and six bedroom properties.
Conservative councillor Katrina Farquhar said the plans would fit in well within the “historic village” of Kincardine O’Neil.
She added: “It has quite a good proportion of affordable housing and the planning was done really well – it was really thought out.”
SNP councillor for the area, Geva Blackett, said: “I am pleased to see that this development will see delivery of 10 much-needed affordable homes in the area and that all the house designs are of the highest standard.”
