One of the Royal Navy’s newest and most advanced destroyers has docked at her twin city’s harbour.
HMS Diamond is visiting Aberdeen for the first time in almost four years
The ship will be open to the community and personnel from the type 45 destroyer will lead the remembrance Sunday parade along Union Street.
The Press and Journal have been invited to tour the ship today but the colossal vessel will be open to the public tomorrow from 10am to 3pm.
Personnel will guide visitors around the decks and give an insight into the role of HMS Diamond in the fleet.
Captain of HMS Diamond Commander Marcus Hember said: “I am delighted to be bringing HMS Diamond back to Aberdeen for her first port visit since her major capability upgrade.
“Our visit not only reaffirms our special relationship with the city but is especially important during this month of remembrance for those who have defended the freedom of Britain and the commonwealth.
The ship will be berthed at Clipper Quay and leaves Aberdeen on Tuesday (November 10).
