Residents of the north-east are being urged to have their say on plans for a new cancer treatment centre, which forms part of a £150million development at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The new Anchor Centre will provide outpatient and day-patient support as well as treatment for services for cancer, blood disorders and non-cancerous conditions.
The modern facility, which will be located next to the radiotherapy centre at the east of the Foresterhill site, is expected to be able to serve more than 30,000 out-patients a year.
And now members of the public are being asked to give their feedback on the proposals during a special drop-in event next Wednesday at Clan House on Westburn Road, Aberdeen. It will run from 6pm-8pm.
Jackie Bremner, NHS Grampian project director, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get involved and help create an Anchor Centre to be proud of that will serve the people of Grampian and the north of Scotland for many years to come.
“The feedback and support we’ve had from the public at our previous public sessions has been extremely helpful in developing the proposals. I hope that this event will encourage more people to get involved as community representatives to help us further refine the project as we move forward.”
The project is part of a huge redevelopment at the campus, which also includes the new Baird family hospital and the relocation of Foresterhill Health Centre.
Meanwhile at Inverurie Hospital, patients and visitors will be faced with parking restrictions for five days from tomorrow onwards to allow surveying work for a proposed new health and care complex.
The new £14.6million facility will include GPs and community health facilities, a dental and maternity unit, as well as diagnostic and treatment services such as X-ray and cardiology.
While the surveying work is being carried out, areas will be clearly marked as either “patient parking only” or “no parking”, with areas with double yellow lines still being enforced as no parking zones.
NHS Grampian also confirmed that there will be access to Urie Dental Practice through the existing car park.
