The Crown Office will take no further action over the death of a north-east man on one of Scotland’s busiest roads.
Father-of-two Barry McRae, of Catterline, near Stonehaven, died after being hit by a car on the northbound carriageway of the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road on Friday, August 21.
A stretch of the road was closed for more than 12 hours after the accident as crash investigators worked to determine what happened.
The 34-year-old was reportedly naked at the time he was hit.
Rush-hour commuters, including those travelling between Aberdeen and Dundee, were diverted away from the scene via Brechin and Edzell, the diversion sending them along the A92 coast road.
Police set up a forensics tent across the central reservation while they worked to establish the circumstances of the crash.
Following the businessman’s death, a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and police appealed for witnesses to the incident.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has now confirmed that after “careful consideration” no further action is required.
He said: “The Procurator Fiscal has received a report in connection with the death of a 34-year-old male near Stracathro in Angus on August 21, 2015.
“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, the Procurator Fiscal concluded that no further action is required.
“The family have been informed of this decision.”
