Investigation launched after body of man found in Aberdeen river

Police have launched an investigation after a body was recovered from the River Don this morning.

Emergency services were called to the river at about 9am after the body of a man was discovered.

According to a spokesman for the Aberdeen lifeboat – who helped recover the body – they had been searching for a missing person in the river area.

Police say the death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.

A police spokesman confirmed the man’s identity would not be released until his next of kin have been informed.
