Hundreds of people took a shot in the dark at the weekend and competed in a night-time dash through a north-east forest.
Nearly 600 people either ran or walked the 15-mile Illuminator course through the Glen Tanar Estate, in Royal Deeside.
Competitors donned their head torches and set off on what proved to be a challenging terrain at the event, the first of its kind in the area.
And the bright sparks on the night were Stewart William, the fastest male, with a time of one hour and 54 minutes, and Stephanie Proven, who was ranked fastest female with a time of just over two hours.
