A north-east dad has been banned from the roads after he was caught behind the wheel while more than four times the drink-drive limit.
Scott Reid had been returning from a wedding in Montrose when officers pulled him over for driving at “excessive speeds”.
When they told him to get out the car, they could smell alcohol on his breath and a roadside test showed he had 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
Yesterday Reid appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted driving while over the legal limit on Lily Loch Road, Stonehaven, on October 25 this year.
The court heard the 31-year-old dad had been attending a friend’s wedding earlier that evening.
He had taken the train there and left his car at Stonehaven station.
However, instead of walking the mile back to his home he decided to drive his car when he got off the train at around 1.35am.
Representing Reid, of North Wing, Middle Toucks, Stonehaven, solicitor Gregor Kelly said his client realises he was stupid and that he should not have driven.
Sheriff Alison Stirling disqualified the human resources advisor for 20 months and fined him £600.
He would be eligible for a five month reduction to his driving ban if he completes the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course.
