Petrol heads in the north-east will have a new event to rev their engines at next year.
The organisers of the popular Speedfest event, held at Alford’s Grampian Transport Museum for the past six years, have created the Royal Deeside Speed Festival.
The event will take place at Kincardine Castle, and will feature all the usual classic cars and speeding motors that lovers of the Speedfest event have come to expect.
There will also be a rally track and a hilly off-road 4×4 driving experience offering passenger rides throughout the day.
Speedfest will be held next year at its usual venue in July, but organised by the museum itself rather than the usual Black Dog Events team.
A spokesman for the company said: “A big thank you to all of you who have supported us in 2014 and 2015 and helped to make our stewardship of Speedfest a successful one.
“After a lengthy search we have discovered a magnificent venue only 30 minutes from Aberdeen city centre.
“The stunning Kincardine Castle, right in the heart of Royal Deeside is situated in the pretty conservation village of
Kincardine O’Neil overlooking the banks of the River Dee.”
Mike Ward, curator of the Alford museum, said that he wished the former organisers “all the best” for the new event but added that Speedfest would continue in the town.
He said: “We have been organising motor events for about 32 years and Speedfest is just one of many on our calendar.
“We will be holding another Speedfest on July 3 next year.”
