A Fraserburgh carer had been shortlisted for a top award in her sector.
Debbie Simpson, who works at the town’s St Modans Care Home, has been shorted in the Carer of the Year category of the Scottish Care Awards.
The team leader said she was delighted to be in the running for the awards, which celebrate the best employees in the independent care home sector.
She said: “I am very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a finalist in these prestigious awards.”
She was nominated by Morag White, area manager of Meallmore which operates the care home.
She said: “Debbie joined as a care worker and quickly demonstrated exceptional skills and went on to become a senior care worker before signing up as a dementia ambassador.
“She is now a non-nurse team leader in the dementia unit and her leadership skills, expert knowledge and unwavering enthusiasm have ensured some amazing outcomes for clients.”
