An Aberdeen fish and chip shop that was nominated for a national award has been severely damaged by an overnight fire.
Fire teams were called to Sea Salt and Sole close to Dyce Railway Station at 4.06am to deal with an extensive fire that had broke out at the premises.
Four pumps and a height vehicle were dispatched to extinguish the fire.
Teams were still at the scene of the blaze this morning at 10am, and no stop message at that point had been sent back to the control room.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said that there will be an investigation carried out this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
In a statement on social media, the owners of the store, which had been in the running to be crowned the UK’s best new chipper at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2016, said: “Shocked and saddened to report an extensive fire at opur premises in the early hours of this morning.
“Thankfully no one was injured.
“We will be closed for the forseeable.
“Thank you for all your support.”
The family-run business opened last November.
