Pets die in north-east house fire

Three cats have died at a house fire in a north-east village.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at a property on Garden Crescent, Gardenstown, near Banff, at about 5.50pm.

Two appliances from Banff and Macduff are still at the scene, with 10 firefighters on board, but the fire is now under control.

A spokeswoman for the fire and rescue service confirmed three cats died in the fire, while two dogs survived.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
