A charity box was stolen when thieves raided the base of an organisation which offers training and work to disabled people.
A tin used to collect money for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary was taken when The Kelpie Cafe in Banff was targeted.
Cafe manager, Mark McDermott, said: “It’s a project for people with disabilities – so it is particularly upsetting for them to not be able to go into their work.
“It has happened before, about a month ago. They went into the kitchen the first time, and this time they went into the cafe, where we serve the public.
“It’s disappointing that people are targeting a social enterprise that is there to provide a benefit and work for people with disabilities.”
Lesley Beaty, whose ARI charity box was taken, branded the theft a “disgrace”.
She said: “It’s a shame because it’s for disabled service users.
“It’s a disgrace, really, that it’s happening. It’s the lowest of the low to do that to your disabled community.”
Police have urged anyone with information on Tuesday’s incident to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
