Plans endorsed for multi-million pound Aberdeenshire harbour expansions

Multimillion-pound plans to develop and extend two north-east harbours have been endorsed by Aberdeenshire councillors.
A masterplan for the future of Macduff harbour and a business plan for Banff marina were given the go-ahead by Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure services committee yesterday.
Up to £326,500 could be spent in Banff over a five-year period to extend the boat compound and add beach showers.
Plans for neighbouring Macduff – which could run to more than £4.6million – are focused on expanding the infrastructure for fishing vessels and improving tourism links with the award-winning local aquarium.
The council’s head of roads and landscape services, Philip McKay, said the plans formed part of the on-going regeneration of the “twin towns”.
Banff and district councillor, Michael Roy, said: “I’d just like to welcome this report and the process it went through. The report itself is extremely comprehensive.”
