An historic Aberdeenshire castle will travel back in time this festive season with a war time-themed event.
Crathes Castle will host ‘Christmas on the Home Front’ the weekend of December 5 and December 6, emulating its days as a hospital for servicemen during World War II.
Staff at the 16th-century estate will wear 1940s clothing, while lindy hopping – an old style of dance which evolved in the early 20th century – will take place at the Horsemill on the castle grounds.
Santa and his reindeer will also pay a visit to the castle.
The event will run from 10.30am until 4pm on both days, with reindeer parades taking place at 12.30pm and 2.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Event organiser, Hazel Morrison, said: “We’re excited to be recreating this fascinating period in Crathes’ history for our festive event this year. We hope families from all over will join us for Christmas on the Home Front.”
Entry is £6 for adults, £4 for children and £18 for a family.
In the run up the event, the National Trust for Scotland is asking people to post selfies wearing Christmas antlers to social media with the hashtag #GrabChristmas.
Participants could win a festive prize each week from November 23 to December 20.
