Production on Brent Delta will be shut down into next week
Production has stopped on a North Sea oil platform following a power cut.
Shell’s Brent Charlie installation was partially down-manned on Thursday after 29 crew members had to be flown from the platform by helicopter.
Ten were moved to other Brent platforms, while 19 were taken back to Aberdeen and stood down.
By last night power had been restored to the site, which is 166 miles north-east of Lerwick, Shetland.
The fuel giant confirmed production will restart in the next few days after a series of maintenance tasks are carried out.
A spokesman said: “Shell UK Limited can confirm that due to a main power generator outage during the morning of November 26, we carried out a precautionary downman of 29 non-essential personnel from the Brent Charlie platform.
“Main power has now been restored to the platform through one generator and work continues to bring a secondary generator back in to service.”
The platform will be fully-staffed again at the next shift change.
