Proposals to expand a tiny north-east village with 21 new homes have been deferred until councillors visit the site.
Architecture firm Archial Norr has applied to build the properties in Hatton, but faces opposition from residents concerned about an increase in traffic.
Aberdeenshire Council planners had urged the Buchan area committee to back the scheme.
In a report to councillors infrastructure boss Stephen Archer said: “It is considered that the proposal will contribute to the area.”
However following a debate at Buchan House in Peterhead yesterday, councillors deferred their decision to give them time to visit the area.
The elected members have also invited representatives from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to join them to offer expert opinion on flooding concerns.
Once elected members have visited the site the application will be brought back to committee for a final decision.
