Proposals have been submitted to turn an historic Aberdeen pub into a supermarket.
The plans would mean the former Ferryhill Tavern on South College Street would be reopened as a Co-operative Food store.
Developers West Coast Estates have submitted a change-of-use application to Aberdeen City Council.
The site has lain empty for nine months.
The property went on the market last year, and there had been early discussions about converting the building into 10 serviced apartments.
The latest development, if approved, is expected to create 10 jobs during the redevelopment phase, with 14 new jobs once the shop is opened.
Iftikar Mian, director at West Coast Estates, said: “As well as providing a new convenience store for local residents in and around Ferryhill, we are delighted to be bringing back to life a building that has lain empty, and play a role in regenerating this prominent location in the heart of the city.
“At West Coast Estates we have a history of successful investment in Aberdeen City Centre, having recently delivered five previous projects with an investment totalling over £10million.”
Ian Mason, acquisitions manager for the supermarket chain, added: “The Co-operative is a community retailer, we look forward not only to offering a new shopping experience but to playing an active role in local life and embracing the area’s community spirit.”
Developers hope to be able to open the store by next summer, if planning permission is secured.
