A troupe of some of Scotland’s finest street performers is preparing to visit the north-east for a host of “madcap” performances.
Street theatre company Mischief La-Bas is bringing its original creation The Magnificent Organ on a tour of Aberdeenshire towns this month.
The 30-minute show will visit Portsoy, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Banchory and Inverurie next week.
Inspired by the mayhem Spike Jones brought to his musical numbers, as well as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and a nostalgia for British children’s programmes of the 1970’s such as Trumpton and Camberwick Green, The Magnificent Organ combines screwball comedy and acrobatic antics, choreographed to an original musical score.
A spokesman for the company said: “With its carefully painted detail, embellished with a welter of moving pipes, horns and limbs, the ‘Organ’ itself is a spectacular example of bespoke cabinet making and a delightful curiosity in any public space.”
The Magnificent Organ will be performed in Portsoy outside Scout Hall at 3.15pm on Friday, December 11. The following day there will be a performance at 11am at Fraserburgh’s Saltoun Square, and at 2.30pm in Peterhead’s Drummers Corner.
On Sunday, December 13, the show will visit Banchory for a performance at Scott Skinner Square from noon and then on to West High Street, Inverurie for 3.30pm.
