Hundreds of north-east children are hunting for woodland fairies to help them choose the perfect Christmas trees for their schools this year.
Around 750 nursery youngsters visited the Christmas tree sales centre at Tyrebagger on the edge of Aberdeen to pick the perfect spruce for their school celebrations.
And bosses expect more than 20,000 people across the North-east will turn out to choose their trees in the run-up to Christmas. But they said it is something very special when the excited nursery tots arrive.
The youngsters met the Tyrebagger Fairies, who taught them about the importance of forests to wildlife, how trees are looked after and what they are used for.
They helped the fairies track down Mr Chopper-upper who helped them select their trees before cutting and wrapping them to take back to school.
Dan Cadle, for the Forest Enterprise Scotland team that runs the centre, aid: “It’s great to be here when we’re busy because there’s a real buzz about the place.
“But the best is definitely when the nursery children visit.
“They’re a bundle of high-energy excitement and the look
on their faces when they meet our Tyrebagger Fairies is priceless.
“It’s a great part of the job. As well as being on hand to give the children, and their teachers, lots of advice on how to make sure they get the most out of their tree, the team gets to let their hair down a bit and help make the nursery school visits a fantastic and magical event.”
