Aberdeen boxer, Lee McAllister, has been jailed for nine months after assaulting a man in a kebab shop.
The 33-year-old former world champion, with the nickname “The Aberdeen Assassin” admitted to punching Jonathan Hay in takeaway shop Marmaris in Aberdeen’s Rose Street on July 17.
Mr Hay was subsequently taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he was treated for a broken jaw.
Mr McAllister had retired from the ring after holding the International World Boxing Foundation title as well as being the Commonwealth lightweight and light-welterweight champion.
The pair had an argument after a row, involving Mr Hay’s girlfriend, and this led to Mr McAllister striking his victim once on the face.
On Friday morning, Sheriff Graham Buchanan said it was “beyond the pale” for any boxer to act in such a fashion outside the ring and there was no alternative to a custodial sentence.
