A top golf course officially welcomed the festive season with a bang last night as a special guest from Lapland’s visit sparked a dazzling fireworks display over the Aberdeenshire dunes.
The family-friendly event kicked off at the Trump International Golf Links at the Menie Estate in Balmedie at 4pm with Santa himself taking the starring role.
Delighted spectators young and old watched on as pupils from Newburgh Mathers Primary School helped him with the most important job of all – switching on the lights.
The entire staff of the renowned course were also full of festive spirit and showed it by donning elf costumes and acting as Santa’s helpers.
The evening then took a more traditional turn with carols lead by the Longside Parish Church Choir sung to remind all of the true reason for the season.
A spectacular fireworks display outside the course capped off the night leaving the dazzled guests going home in wonder and anticipation for the period ahead.
A spokeswoman for the Trump International said the night was a “big success”.
She said: “We’re thrilled with the success of our Christmas launch. It was a fabulous evening with free spiced apple juice, savoury and sweet pies, popcorn, sweeties and antler ears for the kiddies.
“The entire Trump team dressed as elves and Santa’s helpers which was great fun. Father Christmas switched on the dazzling Christmas lights with a sensational fire works display to top it off.
“Our spectacular Santa Grotto is now officially open and we look forward to welcoming families and children to our Christmas clubhouse for festive dining and shopping over the coming weeks.”
