Christmas came more than two weeks late today for one new Aberdeen mum after she was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the early hours of this morning to bring her beautiful new daughter into the world.
Little Thea arrived into the world at 2.32am today, much to the delight of proud and happy parents Antonia and Thomas Croll.
Baby Thea, with a healthy birth weight of 8 pounds 13 ounces, was due to arrive on December 12, but she decided to wait a little bit longer so she could take her mum and dad on a surprise Christmas Eve trip to the maternity unit of ARI.
Mrs Croll, 30, said: “She was due on the 12th, so she’s quite overdue, and it was a quick surprise when we came in to get induced yesterday.
“We really didn’t expect to see her so quickly. She was stubborn, but she decided to come out in the end.
“It’s amazing to have her here in my arms. She’s been quiet so far, but I don’t think it will last. She looks like me, but with her dad’s disposition.”
Mrs Croll revealed the special meaning behind Thea’s middle name: “Her middle name is Lynette, which was Thomas’ mother’s name, who has passed away.
“She would have liked it, because her favourite day of the year was Christmas, so to have here actually be here on Christmas is amazing.”
