Football fans may have to wait until next week to get back onto their pitches on the banks of the River Dee, after they were completely submerged in the flood.
Five-a-side football complex Goals Aberdeen, on Great Souther Road, was badly hit, with all 10 pitches underwater.
At the height of the flooding, the water rose up above the crossbars on the goals, although by late on Hogmanay it had drained so that some of the white posts could be seen poking out above the murky water.
More than a decade ago, flood defences were installed at the site after it was hit by a bad spell of flooding.
But these failed to protect the pitches as water flooded in from the car park at the other side of the site.
And Brian Johnston, the general manager of the popular facility, admitted it could be well into next week before people can play on the pitches again.
He said: “By the time I left at about 8pm on Wednesday, the water had completely covered the boards which are about 4ft.
“I expect the water will have drained away by the weekend, but Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are our busiest nights so I don’t think we’ll be ready for then.”
Meanwhile, David Lloyd Aberdeen gym, in Garthdee, suffered major damage with water bursting into the car park and damaging cars belonging to customers.
After the water had drained away the following day, the wreckage of several cars could be seen piled on top of one another with windows and doors shattered.
The gym is currently closed and staff are attempting to clean out the building which was also damaged.
A spokeswoman for David Lloyd said: “We are currently working with the emergency services to begin the process of clearing up the club.
“Once the extent of the damage has been fully assessed, we will be in a position to let our members know when the club is likely to be reopened.”
