Council calls on army to help in flood relief effort

Aberdeenshire Council bosses have called for a military intervention in a flood hit north-east community.
Councillors have asked the British Army for help providing a temporary bridge to get people in and out of Braemar.
The call to arms comes after Invercauld Bridge on the A93 was closed due to damage sustained in Storm Frank.
Councillor Geva Blackett, who represents Aboyne, Upper Deeside, and Donside, said: “Aberdeenshire Council leadership has asked the army if they can provide a temporary solution to the bridge problem in Braemar to enable cars at least to be able to get in and out.
“It’s a huge issue. It’s a community cut off from the rest of Aberdeenshire.”
